The Hudson Valley is essentially made up of the counties in New York State that border the Hudson River. Click here for an overview map.  The source of the Hudson River is Lake Tear of the Clouds in the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. From there it winds down the mountains and forms a lush valley that fed both farms and industry. South of Troy, the Hudson River becomes and estuary that is changed and fed by the tides.  "The river that flows both ways" becomes wide as it moves south, and its landscape, backed by the Catskill Mountains has provided inspiration to artists and adventurers alike.

Plan your cycling adventure by exploring the different county tourism websites below.  Or check out some of the Hudson Valley's bike touring companies that can take you out for a ride without you having to plan!
